Russian Language Section Benefit Account

Learn more about your impact

The Russian Language Section Benefit Account supports high achieving students studying the Russian language. The Russian program boasts many high achieving students who have won federal grants and internships from the Departments of State, Defense, Education and Justice. Since 2005, students have won 15 Critical Language Scholarships, 14 Borens, 10 FLAS, 10 paid State Department internships, five Fulbrights, five Gilmans, two Peace Corps postings and a Pickering Fellowship.

Employees who speak Russian are increasingly sought after, particularly among government agencies. Fluency in this language can increase graduates’ salaries by an average of 4% year over year. Support students in continuing their education in Russian and on their path to a promising career.

With this fund, the Russian department is able to provide monetary support alongside the awards for “best graduating student” and “best continuing student.”
