What is Sun Devil Giving Day?

Sun Devil Giving Day is Arizona State University’s university-wide day of giving. This year it takes place on March 21, 2019, from 12:00 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. Mountain Standard Time (MST).

Who can be a part of Sun Devil Giving Day?

Anyone and everyone can be a part of the excitement on and before Sun Devil Giving Day. It does not matter if you are an ASU graduate.

Why should I give through Arizona State University?

When you give through ASU you are supporting more than just education, you are providing the resources necessary for our faculty, students, and researchers to solve the greatest issues facing our world today.

Supporters of ASU believe in a public university that immerses itself in the community that surrounds it. When you make a gift to ASU, you are joining with over 100,000 like-minded Sun Devils in advancing that ideal.

How can I be a part of Sun Devil Giving Day?

First, join our discussion on and before Sun Devil Giving Day by following the ASU Foundation on Facebook and Twitter.  Help share the Sun Devil Giving Day story using the hashtag #SunDevilGiving and encourage your friends to be a part of Sun Devil Giving Day.

Lastly, make an online gift on March 21, 2019 to any area of ASU.

Where should I give on Sun Devil Giving Day?

The decision is yours. Your gift can be made in support of any part of ASU that you want to help succeed. This may be a particular school, program, or even scholarship account. If you want ASU to be able to use your gift where it will have the greatest impact simply select the “Area of Greatest Need” as your designation.

How will my gift be used?

This depends on where you designate your gift. ASU and the ASU Foundation strive to ensure all donations are used for the purposes for which they were given.

What gifts count towards the totals for each unit?

All gifts to ASU on Sun Devil Giving Day will be included: online, in person or through a phone call with a fundraiser.  

It looks like I can give now. Will my gift still be counted?

We know life gets busy and you may not be able to give on March 21st.  That's why we will be accepting gifts early for your convenience.  Any gift received on the Sun Devil Giving Day site from March 7th through March 22nd will be counted. 

As an employee or affiliate to ASU, can I donate through payroll deduction?

Definitely! ASU and ASU Enterprise Partner employees can set up either a one time gift of reoccurring payroll deductions.  Visit the secure Payroll Deduction Form to give. 

Funds will be deposited with the ASU Foundation, a separate non-profit organization that exists to advance ASU as a New American University.

Are gifts tax deductible?

For outright gifts with no tangible benefits:

All funds will be deposited with the ASU Foundation for a New American University, a nonprofit organization that exists to support Arizona State University (ASU). Gifts in support of ASU are subject to foundation policies and fees. Your gift may be considered a charitable contribution. Please consult your tax adviser regarding the deductibility of charitable contributions.

For gifts where tangible benefits are received:

All funds will be deposited with the ASU Foundation for a New American University, a nonprofit organization that exists to support Arizona State University (ASU). Gifts in support of ASU are subject to foundation policies and fees. Due to the fair market value of benefits received, only payments in excess of fair market value may be considered a charitable contribution. Please consult your tax adviser regarding the deductibility of charitable contributions.
